People Pursuing Excellence in Erie, PA

1000 is a fast-paced 24-minute film about the passage of time, the nature of dreams and the importance of finding one's own path in life. Made entirely in Erie, Pennsylvania, it is a meditation on the pursuit of excellence. The film is an equal collaboration between two Erie artists: Abdullah Washington or "Bigg Wash," a poet and community activist, and Tom Weber, an independent filmmaker. Like a documentary, it uses naturalistic interviews and action sequences to tell its story. Like an art film, it employs imagery and symbolism. And it is a formal experiment in which each minute stands for an hour in a hypothetical day.
